A small smooth garnet gemstone sits in the center of a wide, oval, sterling silver shield detailed with with stamped dots, triangles, and rays. Sterling silver should be stored properly and kept from heavy chemicals to keep from tarnishing, but unlike many metals, it can be cleaned and returned to its original shine. Use the most gentle cleaner that can get the job done: Silver can be cleaned with a silver polishing cloth, or gentle all purpose jewelry cleaner. Be sure to protect stones when cleaning silver.

Keep it clean by keeping it away from chemicals, lotions, perfumes, excessive humidity, and protect from heavy, hard wearing activities such as sports, heavy work, or vigorous exercise. The main culprits that shorten the life of your jewelry are: never taking it off, wearing it while sleeping, wearing it in hot tubs and pools, and while playing sports. Store in an airtight container such as jewelry box or zip lock baggie while not wearing. When storing long term, make sure to clean and dry thoroughly before storing.
