14kt gold-filled jewelry is made with thick layer of gold (5% by weight) bonded to a high quality metal core of silver, brass, or copper. Although it isn’t solid gold, it essentially functions the same as any 14kt gold jewelry: it wont rub off or turn colors easily. It can be treated and cleaned as you would 14kt gold, and lasts 10-30 years of everyday wear with care. It can be cleaned with warm, soapy water, and a soft brush, then dried with a soft cloth.
Gold Plated Silver:
Our gold plated jewelry has a 14kt gold layer over 925 sterling silver core. Care should be taken when cleaning gold over silver jewelry by not rubbing excessively, to protect the longevity of the gold surface. Clean with warm soapy water, or gold cleaner, and rinse well. Pat dry with soft cloth. Prevention of tarnish is best for plated jewelry, so be sure to remove before bed, sports, swimming, or applying perfumes or lotions. Store in an airtight container or jewelry box.
